Episode 22: Extreme endurance with Jana Kesenheimer

To kick off 2025, Emma is joined by ultracycling extraordinaire Jana Kesenheimer who literally eats mountains for breakfast. Having started life as more of a runner than a cyclist, Jana shares how she got into cycling an extremely long way, what drives her and her goals for 2025. She also dives into the details of how she came 13th overall, and first woman, in the 2024 Transcontinental Race, Europe's hardest ultracycling race. We talk about why there aren’t many women on the start line in ultracycling races, especially when compared to marathons and triathlons, and how this affects the women riders who are there. Jana is also a psychologist and researcher at the University of Innsbruck and she shares how she balances her two passions and how they complement each other. Get ready to be inspired and want to take on some extraordinary challenges, whether on two wheels or on your feet.
